Our condo borders a canal. Pampas grass has been allowed to grow unabated for years, from 25 yards to over 800 yards and it is still growing. Can we cut it or hire someone to do so? Why, because the Iguanas have their habitat there and thousands of them are invading our property. If we remove the grass, we remove the Iguanas. It it legal? We can't wait for a freeze. It is a problem!
You would need to speak with the landowners and your city on matters of plant maintenance and pest control.
I have a pompous grass that is about 12 years old and it is growing on the outside of the plant but if you look in the middle there is no growth and it looks dead. What should I do?
Die out from the center is a good indication that the plants should be divided.
This is no easy task with large Pampas Grass plantings, though it should be done to keep the plants healthy every few years.

You may miss out on plumes this year if you prune it now. This article may help

I have to Pampas grass and I cut them halfway down last winter and one of them is blooming just real pretty but the other one is blooming on the outside but it's not blooming in the middle what can I do about that
It sounds like you may need to divide your plants, the center can die off if it gets to large!

Can you plant it directly in sand on the beach or do you need to put top soil in the sand
A sandy loam type soil is ideal, but not essential. In fact, it grows exceptionally well along the coast in almost pure sand.

Hello there I am a keen gardener but only up hill. I have thought about growing pampas grass as a feature in my front garden but think I would prefer it round the back. Could you give me some specific pointers on growing this wonderful plant please and any thing that I should be looking out for !! Many Thanks Graham
