We have milkweed plants specifically for hosting Monarch butterflies but we feel there are too many milkweed bugs per plant. Can this be problem and won't spraying them with water allow them to return easily?
If you feel they are a problem you can hand pick them and drop them into a soapy water bucket.

I found orange and black flying bugs eating my milkweeds. What can I use to get rid of them but not hurt the butterflies? Also, the leaves are covered in a white substance. Is that normal? Thank you.
Milkweed bugs are generally considered a beneficial insect, but in some cases a large infestation can become an issue.

We have a butterfly garden. I've had several in the past as well. This is the first time I have every had so much trouble. We had a successful season last year. This year, not so much. We've seen several Monarchs laying on our milkweed. Monitored the eggs. But, The eggs don't hatch. They go from their ting white specs to tiny black specs in about a week. Then, nothing. They remain black and stuck to the leaf. Any Idea as to what is happening? Thanks Cris Beehn
The eggs may not have been fertile, the female may not have found a male Monarch.
Also there is a parasite that some female can be carriers of, Nosema. In Monarch operations they remove the caterpillars that carry this parasite.

I have no experience with this plant. I decided to try growing milk weed plants for butterflies. I have been told you can not use any kind of commercial or home made treatment to rid the plants of aphids. Is this true or is there something/anything I can use?
This article will help you.

CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THIS TYPE OF MILKWEED?
There are over 100 native species of Milkweed, and an id is difficult from your image.
Knowing the growing zone can help narrow the search.
