    We are glad that we are able to help with your gardening questions.

    You can make a garlic spray by soaking garlic bulbs in water and then spraying the aphids.
    Neem Oil is a good option as it won't harm people, pets or bees!
    Asian Beetles will not help with Aphids.

    There is really not a good alternative to control other then harmful chemical sprays.

    Milkweed.
    It is being welcomed more and more to garden landscapes and flower gardens as a source of food for Monarchs.

    Examine the bugs closely again to determine if it might be a Milkweed Bug.
    These are normally found on Milkweed and pose no threat to the garden.

    That said, I do believe it to be likely Aphids.
    Treat the plants with Neem Oil, this is organic and is safe for people, pets and bees.

    Yes, a period of cold is good for seed germination.
    You can trim the plants back if you like or just leave.

    Milkweed seeds should be started either indoors or can be direct sown in the spring after danger of frost.
