Last year when growing bush type Fordhook Lima beans, they produced many empty pods. Most pods never filled with beans. Why?
I planted the bush variety (that is what the package says) of the above lima beans. They are full of runners. If I cut them off, will that limit my crop i.e. do they blossom on the runners or on the main plant?
I don't generally recommend that people cut the runners off vegetable plants, mainly because it can cause more harm than good. The damage cutting the runners off causes would open the plant up to disease and stress. Better to leave them. The plant will produce just as well, though it may not look as tidy.
These beetles are destroying our string and lima bean crops again this year.

Should I pick the remaining vegetables when overnight temperatures are predicted to go into the lower 30's? (i.e. peppers, lima beans, and last remaining tomatoes)
Yes, you may want to go ahead and harvest all the cold tender crops. Here is more information that could help: http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/3268/frost-and-the-fall-garden
Is it ok to sow some Purple King or butter beans where my peas were grown? Peas have finished and have removed spent plants. Grateful for advice please.
As long as you did not have any disease issues with the peas, it is perfectly fine to grow beans there now.
After the lima bean has germinated in the plastic zip-lock bag, how do you plant it in a cup? With the root up or down? My class is doing a science project. . . .thank you.
When to start planting your garden for the summer, especially lima beans? I've tried for 2 years and no luck!
