I have a lemon tree that I purchase from a nursery 1 year ago. I live on Long Island, N.Y. I planted it in the container and it has grown beautifully all this time. I have 12 lemons on my tree. They began at the end of the summer and have grown all winter long and are still green. I kind of suspect perhaps it is a lime tree! Now, as well as that mystery to me is, about a month ago the leaves started dropping. Healthy green leaves dropping to the floor. Every day and they are almost gone. Still, the beautiful, shiny, green lemons hang there. I have been careful with the watering and feedings. I increased the watering a bit when the leaves started dropping as spring was approaching and it needed more. The soil is well draining. It sits in a beautiful sunny window. I am waiting for Memorial Day to bring it outside for the summer in waiting for the right nighttime temps. How long does the fruit take to turn yellow? Is my tree shedding in preparation for the new season? I thank you in advance. Sheila Laform
It is normal for some leaves to drop, but it can also be caused by uneven watering, pests and disease.

I bought some lemons at a Maui, Hawaii farmer's market. it was a lemon but greenish yellow inside and more tart. I can't remember the name of it and I'm hoping you know. It was the size of a meyer lemon. I do not have a photo of it. Much appreciated. Cynthia

I am curious if anyone knows if planting a whole lemon in the ground would/could successfully grow a lemon tree? I put a couple in the ground the other day and have no idea if they will take or not. Usually, I would deseed a lemon and germinate it first, but I wanted to see if this works. I heard that it works quite well, but I'm not sure if I trust the source. Any experience with this would be appreciated. Thank you!

My lemon tree leaves are all falling off - the lemons are also very small. Tree is planted in ground, soil is wet and well vented. Tree is about 25 years old.
This can be caused by several issues. This article will help you pinpoint the cause.
