I have a very large lawn which I want to plant an area approximately 30' x 60' which is slightly to gentle sloping.
There are very, very few options available to you, unfortunately. There is one thing that comes to mind, though. Creeping Jenny may suit your needs pretty well, here. This article will help:
The area is a circular lawn surrounded by a border approximately 6m sq. What to cover grass with ie. weed barrier. Edging the plant border. Use of cement, gravel, blocks, pavers and slabs.
You need to kill the grass first. If you aren't in a hurry, you can cover the grass with clear plastic and leave it for six to eight weeks during a hot period. Another option is cover the area with cardboard, then cover with pavers. In time, the cardboard will decay into the soil, but will kill the grass in the meantime. For a quick kill, use an herbicide with glyphosate. Be sure to read and follow all label instructions.
There are many paver options available at your home improvement stores. You can use the same ideas for a walkway as a rounded area. Here are some ideas:

I’ve tried to sod my lawn multiple times. I’ve tried reseeding multiple times. I’m at the point where I just have excepted that there’s no way I can grow grass. I’m not much of a gardener. I need something that’s low maintenance and that will look ok in a fairly large area. My yard receives almost no sun. It seems all I can grow is weeds and moss. Please advise.

Hello. I have an average, ¼ acre grass lawn, but I would like to begin working toward a suitable lawn substitute. I have dogs, no children, and the lawn doesn't get a lot of foot traffic. I'm ok with bees, and would like to help them, but with dogs, I am a bit concerned about having too many of them. I am not in a position to remove the turf that is already there, at least not huge swaths of it. So I'm wondering if overseeding the grass would work at all. It's just too big an area to remove the turf. About half of the front yard is part shade. The rest is pretty much full sun. I'm in zone 5b. I've thought about creeping thyme, chamomile, oregano and dwarf clover of some kind, but am open to other suggestions, either a single type or some combination.
There are so many choices, I'm going to give you two links that will provide a series of articles about grass substitutes.

Very soon I will bring 10 yards new soil. What YOU suggest to plant. No more grass! Mira Yarov myarov@att.net
There are many, many options for this area, actually. This article will help to get you started in the right direction- away from grass:
Received orchids in pots with a lot of moss. They were in lite plastic pots. I transplanted then in clay took out out the moss and put in orchid bark. Is that right or should I put back the moss in the root system? The pots have holes on the sides.
I did the very same thing you did. I believed the moss was keeping it too wet. I left the moss out and my orchid is doing fine.

My hundred year old grass lawn is likely to die due to water restrictions recently mandated in California. It faces north in Fremont. Hating to lose a green live lovely spot in the historic area. What options would you recommend?
We have just the article to suggest several types for every part of the year:
