We are thinking of planting Lanana on the side of our house up against the stucco along the walkway on the other side. The area is 20 inches wide & gets about 8 hours of sun in summer. I was told Lantana roots can be very pervasive & wondered if this Is true would it be a problem. Also any other suggestions of plants for this area would be appreciated-preferably something with color. Thank you.
f you have a sunny location with well draining soil, Lantana would be a great choice.
Though Purple Lantana appears on the list of invasive plant species in CA, you can seek out a cultivator that is appropriate to your setting.

I would suggest a visit to your local garden centers to see if another perennial catches your eye.

Dear Gardening Know How team, I came across your excellent website trying to identify a plant we have in the garden of our current holiday hone in La Palma on the Canary Islands. While I am fairly certain it is a type of lantana, I don't believe it to be l. montevidensis because the leaves alternate and their edges look smooth, not serrated as I have seen in pictures of l. montevidensis. Furthermore, there do not seem to be any seeds at all, at least right now, and the l. camara in another pot near the one I am trying to identify already has done fruit. Long story short, can you help me identify the lantana in the attached picture? (I could go and take a more detailed one if required, as well) Thank you very much in advance and best regards Esther Lewit
The garden heliotrope (Heliotropium arborescens) is a highly fragrant perennial plant, originally from Peru. It is especially notable for its intense, rather vanilla-like fragrance. Common names include cherry pie and “common heliotrope”.

What animal could be eating the very tips of the plant -- the flowers look like they have bitten off just within a couple of hours this morning. Is there an "animal" that could be doing this? They are in pots in urns on my front porch. A real mystery.
Squirrels or chipmunks perhaps

our lantana is growing well and is blooming well. However it has clusters of leaves that look like broccoli. Is this a disease or just normal for some lantana?
The misshapen leaves on your lantana are indicative of a disease known as Aster Yellow phytoplasma. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for the Aster Yellow phytoplasma. Plant scientists recommend removal and destruction of all infested perennials because they can harbor Aster Yellow for next year's leafhoppers.
