they have a nest outside in a humidafier pipe
I would consult a pest control or use a insect treatment from your neighborhood store.
If they are not bothering you, these are beneficial to your garden and you may want to leave them.

Just finished reading Amy Grants article, Natural Pest Repellent: Do Hot Peppers Deter Pests In The Garden. In her article she mentions that research has indicated one variety of pepper was found useful against spider mites, but then fails to mention which one. Please give the reference citation to the original research article she was discussing and the specific variety of pepper that was mentioned for control. thank you. Jack
for years now, I see clusters and clusters of a red/black bug that always seem to be connected. they range from a few millimeters to about 1 centimeter. i have asked around and my neighbors say they get them too. what are these bugs? they don't bite, they just crawl around on each other. there are hundreds of them and they always come back in the same area every year. how do I get rid of them or at least limit their numbers?

today, for the first time, I saw outside my front door, dragonflies swirling and swirling for about 15=30 minutes and then left. Even the girl across the street was trying to take pictures of it in wonderment. Where did they come from and why? and where did they go?
Swarms of Dragonflies could be migrating or even feeding in large groups.
