I have had a hydrangea bush for about three or four years and ever since I put it in it will not bloom. The first year I had it I cut it back in winter and that was a no no but haven't done it since and nothing. I have put everything I can think to in the soil. I have read and added and tested the pH and I can't get it to bloom.
Excess nitrogen is often a reason for lack of flowering on a Hydrangea.

The leaves on my hydrangeas are turning brown and crumbling. I planted them on the north side of the house. I water them everyday unless it rains, then I give them a break. The flowers are pink, which I know means the soil isn't very acidic. Am I doing something wrong or is this picture normal? Any tips???
This article will refresh you on the care needed. If this is an established Hydrangea and the soil is loamy and well drained, you are likely watering too much.
A deep watering once a week should be sufficient.
some of the flowers are dried and very crispy, they are not in direct sunlight. water and drainage is adequite, why did they do this and how do i remove the dead crispy flowers?
A potted Hydrangea needs to be kept moist and water throughly. During warm periods, you may need to water twice a day.
If the flowers are wilted you can even set the pot in a tray of water to make sure the entire root system is getting watered.
Dead heading the spent flowers can be done by cutting the flower off of the plant, down to the next leaf cluster.

I live in zone 7b and have a pretty good sandy loam soil. I'm wanting to plant lots of hydrangeas in a mass along my driveway where it is currently rock, somewhat compact and grass. I wouldn't say the soil is super compact though and the light is just right. Morning sun, dappled shade through the afternoon & evening. I'm wondering if I need to build up planter boxes filled with a ton of new soil? I plan to add amendments either way, of course. The site is pretty well-drained. Can i put them directly in the ground?
