this note, and same size or smaller. are shaped i would attach a photo but i don't do technology.
Unfortunately, without a photo it will be near impossible to identify this. From the description, it could be anything from dead insects to bird droppings and anything in between.
Like many, I get aphids on my hellebore but love them and will continue the battle. If I put something like pine needles under the plant, will that help? I read one article that said aluminum foil under the plant...tacky to look at but will try if it helps. So, my question is, is there any material under the plant that would help keep aphids at bay? Thanks.

I have answered on the original, but I will say that you probably won't be able to get an ID without a way to see what it is.
my hellebores was blooming great and then it began to turn yellow. can i cut it back to the ground to see if it will put back out. have had this plant for a couple years
You can cut them to the ground when necessary, but it won't fix the issue. You will need to find out why it went yellow, first. Unfortunately, your image did not come through, so I am unable to see the exact look of the damage.
Commonly, getting too much sun will cause most of the yellowing. They are meant for shade and will not do well with any direct sun.
Underfeeding is not common, but can be an issue.
Soils that remain too saturated for too long can cause this as well. The soil shouldn't only dry out down to about an inch between waterings. You don't want any drier than that, but you don't want it to remain wet, either.

Hi, I live in CT. I purchased several hellebores plants last year. They had beautiful flowers. When they sprouted this spring, green flowers eventually appeared and have stayed green for several months. Why don't they look like the ones I purchased. I've attached two photos...what they looked like when I bought them...what they look like today.
Research shows that this is a natural occurrence as the plant ages. Here's the link for that article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3550562/
You may need to replace your plant with a different strain that will keep its colored blooms. Here's an article about hellebores:

I have no images that I can can show you.
Unfortunately, without a photo I am unable to assess any damage to the plant. There are many things that can cause these symptoms.
What I can do is link you to an article that will help you with proper care. This will be the first step. Once proper care is provided, then you can begin to diagnose any disease outside of those factors. This article will help you with their care:

Hi I’ve went and cut my hellebores completely to the ground and I now think I’ve killed them. I did it at the end of May and there is no growth what’s so ever, help, have I killed them
Heavy pruning should only be done when there are signs of new growth for the year. Cutting them to the ground before this can kill them, as they have no nutrient storage through the winter. Since they won't be growing vigorously through the winter, they need all of the nutrients from those leaves.
This article will help you to prune the plants:
