Gardenia bush was fine with a slight powdery mildew at bottom which I treated. Watered on Thursday and light on Saturday. Checked Tuesday and there were brown spots all over the leaves and there is heavy leaf droppage. Have 2 other gardenia bushes and they are fine and were also previously treated for powdery mildew. Home remedy for the powdery mildew from gardeningknowhow: 1 gallon water, 4 teaspoons baking soda, a little non-degreaser dishwashing soap and a little cooking oil. What happened and is there any way to salvage the bush? Do I need to worry about my other bushes?
It sounds like you used the recipe for homemade pesticides.
The recommendation for Powdery Mildew recipe is in the links below.
You do need to avoid spraying any plants with any product during bright sunlight or heat. Early morning is best treatment time.
Also make sure the soap used does not have any bleach additives.

I would just wait it out, washing the plant is not likely an option with the addition of oil to the mixture you used.
I live in a condo my yard space is very limited
Yes, Gardenia can grow in containers.
The container you choose is determined by how large of a plant that you start with. When you purchase from a garden center; the plant is likely in the correct size pot for it's age.
Repotting the Gardenia is done when the roots begin growing from the bottom of the flowerpot, it's time to repot the gardenia. Wait until late spring, after the shrub finishes blooming, to avoid damaging the flower buds and blossoms. The new flowerpot should be 1 to 2 inches larger in diameter than the previous pot.

my newly planted, once green and lively gardenia bushes have become brown. I watered them with the vinegar water method about 6 days ago. also I planted 3 snapdragon plants all in the same area 2 are thriving and 1 is dying HELP
For what reason were you using vinegar?
This is not a recommended way to water either Gardenia or Snapdragons.
These links will refresh you on the care needed for both of your plants.

I have a 30 yr old plant that is in the ground. Not sure of the pruning of the base area...
This is common for older gardenias. Restorative pruning will be necessary to restore its health. You will need to do this at the correct time, though. This article will give you more information on how, and when to do this: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/gardenia/when-to-prune-a-gardenia.htm
Every single bloom on my gardenia shrubs have very tiny black bugs just racing all the time. They seem to go to the base of the bloom when you cut them. This makes them have to stay on the shrub sometimes and I love to cut and bring them indoors for their fragrance.

About 1/3 of my plant is alive and greening up but the other 2/3 are dead. Should I prune all the other dead wood off? It was over-wintered in an insulated box. I'm hoping stronger roots after two years in the ground will let more plant survive next year.
Go ahead and prune out any dead plant material.
I'm listing a few articles to help you.

She gets buds them they dry up and fall off.
Gardenia can be a finicky plant.
I do see some fallen leaves in the soil of the container. It's always good to remove and dispose of these to avoid spreading disease.
Bud drop can be due to a few different reasons; this article will help you access the plant and make corrections.
