Green large leaf ? Small yellow flowers and a lantern looking pod in green
When do the Chinese Lanterns that are now greebnturn into orange? Is there a way of hastening this process as frost comes early in Vermont
You can try adding fertilizers with high potassium and phosphorus. These two will help promote ripening. Here is an article on care of the plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/chinese-lantern/caring-for-chinese-lanterns.htm
I brought stems of the lantern flowers inside but they are still green. Will they turn red as they dry?
Sometimes this can depend on the cultivar of lantern. Some do not turn, and some turn fully. Let it dry and you may end up with some color, but don't be disappointed if they don't turn. how big do Chinese lanterns grow
Most species will not exceed 35 inches (90 cm). This is not to say that some won't be shorter, or taller. Here is an article for more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/chinese-lantern/caring-for-chinese-lanterns.htm
I transplanted my Chinese lantern and it looks healthy with lots of leaves and blooms. However, the branches are drooping and in some cases breaking. Should I trim it back? I live in the Central Valley of CA, zone 11.
This is normal. Many species will have a tendency to get too heavy for themselves. You can prune them back a little to help alleviate this. Here is an article for more information on the plant: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/chinese-lantern/caring-for-chinese-lanterns.htm
I started them from seeds. Now they average about 2-3 inches tall. They are in a hanging pot on our deck. I live in Chattanooga TN. Thank you
If you grow them indoors you may have to hand polinate to get the seed pods if that is what you're after. They need sun and well drained soil. Be sure to let the soil dry out between waterings.
