My plants are huge, 5 times bigger than years past, but we didn't have a cool spring either. My cauliflower has not developed florets/or a "head yet." I live in eastern Washington and I have sand and compost mixed together that they are growing in. However, all I have is 8 huge plants and nothing else. Did I do something wrong? I should mention all my cabbage is growing in the same soil and are just about ready to harvest, each head weighs close to 10 lbs! Will the cauliflower produce or should I pull the plants out and put them in the compost pile? Thank you for time.
A common reason for lack of heads forming on plants is too much nitrogen.
Cauliflower are also sensitive to temperatures.
Even watering is also key.
Soil ph should be neutral or slightly alkaline.

This is the first time I have grown cauliflower. I am about to harvest my first head. What is done with the remainder of the plant once that head is harvested? Is it like broccoli or will it be done once harvested for the first time and the remainder of the plant removed? Thanks, Brian
Cauliflower does not generally develop any side shoots, so therefore can be pulled up after harvest.
It can be put in the compost.

When the cauliflower, bolts what do I do with the plant? Can I save it?
No, if your plants have bolted without growing a Cauliflower head, it can be removed from the garden. You can compost the plant.

My cauliflower heads are fuzzy. Is there a problem with eating this type of head. And how to prevent this from happening
Here's an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/cauliflower/fuzzy-cauliflower-heads.htm
Hello. Name’s Bill Taggart. From Aberdeen, but now living in Stirling. Reason for bothering you: Something is eating holes in my cauliflower leaves, & I can’t see anything there. No caterpillars to be seen. Slugs around but I’ve got the plants surrounded with slug killer & can’t see any on the plants. Doesn’t seem to be having a terminal effect on the plants, but I’m very curious ! Any suggestions what else it might be ??? Regards & thanks, Bill Taggart P.S. Sorry- no photos (yet !)
There could be a few different pests eating your plants.

What to do with the cauliflower after I harvest it?
It is best stored in the refrigerator. Other than that, you can eat it fresh, cook it many different ways... It is all up to you!
I brought my Cauliflower indoors in temp holding plant tray for winter, and because I moved from a house to 4th floor apt. I expected to loose all of them but out of 6 plants I lost only 1, 2 are growing nice big leaves again, and the other 3 are iffy but all have new growth. These poor plants have grown tall, lost all the bottom leaves and are now top heavy. Is it ok for them to stay tall? Should I trim them back? If so, how and where do I trim? Do I just replant them and bring the soil level up higher? I bought them last fall so I’m new to cauliflower and have had no veggies yet, but would feel successful in just keeping it alive. I’m getting ready to replant them as well, and suggestions on that would be great!
You do not want to trim them, as you will cut off the part that will flower. They look healthy to me. Keep the soil level where it is, and try not to bury the crown when you plant them.
