I live in southwest Florida and I planted cantaloupes in early June. Now in mid August the plants are only about 3 inches high. What should I do?
This link takes you to a page of articles on cantaloupe. Hopefully you can find the answer in one of them: http://www.google.com/cse?cx=012078378210706707791%3Af1h5n_k1r5e&ie=UTF-8&q=grow+cantaloupe&oq=&gs_l=#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=grow%20cantaloupe&gsc.page=1
I have an unknown melon ripening in the patch. The seedling grower said he thought it was a Hale's Best melon, and I did find online a Hale's Best cantaloupe, heirloom and organic. Both qualities also have a requirement of the seedling donor. My mystery melon is the size of an average cantaloupe, is a pale gray-green, and netting has been forming over the last two weeks. Any guesses as to its ID, and how I should test for ripeness?
Not sure about this sentence, ''Both qualities also have a requirement of the seedling donor.''
If this is a cantaloupe, this article should help:

Having trouble getting cantaloupes to set. Flowers but no fruit. Any tips?
This is a common problem for vining plants at the start of the season. They will produce nothing but male flowers early one, which cannot produce fruit. These flowers will simply fall off. If you are getting both male and female flowers and the female flowers are falling off, it is a pollination problem and you may have to hand pollinate. Can you use cantaloupes for compost?
Why are the cantaloupes not setting fruit. Lots of blooms, just no fruit.
It is probably due to lack of pollination and they just may need your helping hand. Here is an article on how to hand pollinate melons that will assist you:

Happy gardening!
My cantaloupe plants have lots of vines and flowers but no fruit on them. Some of the flowers have dropped off but I am not getting any melons. My watermelon plant is doing great.
Likely a pollination issue.
You can hand pollinate the plants.

We live in south central Minnesota and are wondering if cantaloupe can be picked green. Will they ripen? They are the size of basketballs, and we are afraid they will bust before they ripen.
