When to Harvest Melon

Question

I have an unknown melon ripening in the patch. The seedling grower said he thought it was a Hale’s Best melon, and I did find online a Hale’s Best cantaloupe, heirloom and organic. Both qualities also have a requirement of the seedling donor. My mystery melon is the size of an average cantaloupe, is a pale gray-green, and netting has been forming over the last two weeks. Any guesses as to its ID, and how I should test for ripeness?
