This was a big issue last July - September, less so since. Leaf discoloration progresses over 6 - 10 days, finally turning fully yellow, then falls off. The shrub is in good soil to about 6 inches, then clay below that. It gets approximately 1 inch of water per week April - September, more in July & August and gets full sun for 4 - 8 hours a day (season depending). Any help is greatly appreciated.
It looks like sunscald. Camellias prefer a more shady location with acidic soil. Dappled sun is OK but not full sun.

Established camellia buds out heavily but the buds never open
Unfortunately, there are many things that cause this finicky plant to drop buds. This may take some sleuth-work to pin down, exactly, what is going on.

Help! My 1 yes old camellia isn’t looking so healthy - the leaves are discolored and it looks as if the bud aren’t going to open
Unfortunately, this resembles the early stages of several diseases. I suspect a fungal pathogen, such as Pestalotiopsis or Phyllosticta, or similar. There is a chance that it could be viral, but you would be able to tell since it would not respond to treatment, at all.

It looks like damage due to exposure to me, temperature related or wind. It does look like it needs more water also. The brown buds are dead. Common causes are very cold temperatures, not enough water or too much water, etc. A big temp drop can also cause bud drop. They will fall on their own or you can carefully twist them.
You can cut off just a few of the leaves that are hiding the blooms, but don't get too crazy with it. There are correct times to do a proper pruning depending on the type that you have.

to bloom. After relocating blooming stopped and the buds turned brown. No improvement till now. Please advise how I should help the plants recover. Thanks in advance.
It's best not to move plants when they are blooming or about to bloom. Plus, the camellias may not have had a chance to get reestablished before cold weather. Here are some tips on how to help with transplant shock:
the same last year. Should I plant it in the ground? Or is it beyond saving? Thanks. I wonder if it could be pot bound, but the problem seems much bigger than that. Thanks
If the roots are potbound, it may not be able to absorb water. Also, it is competing for nutrients with the flowers in the container. Is it located in shade? It could be getting too much sun.

I repotted my camelia a few years ago as the leaves were yellowing and it was looking pot bound. I potted it in the correct compost and only water with rainwater. The first year it bloomed, the second year I got about 2 flowers and this year nothing, no buds, nothing. However, it looks really healthy, glossy green leaves and it has grown. Please can you help?
