I have a potted tri coloured buddleia which I got last year. This year its losing its leaves up the stems , its flowering altho they are small in size . I dont no if its root rot or something else ,as I did water everyday for a while when it was really hot but have stopped now .I've read of certain problems but cant find any pictures to show you what each would look like .
I do see signs of overwatering and disease. It is still the early stages of the disease. I think a few rounds of fungicides will take care of it, but make sure to only water once the soil is completely dry down to about 2 inches. This will not be on schedule, as the climate conditions at the time will dictate how often you will need to water.
Be sure to always check before watering to prevent this in the future. Without treatment, it will not go away, and will progress, so correcting watering habits will not be enough, alone.

My budleia has been inundated with sparrows and the like since before the flowers came out. I could not reach to prune the highest branches so I assumed the birds were after the seeds in the dead flowers. However since it started flowering, there have been more and more birds and now all this years flowers are dead. They hardly had time to bloom.
This article will help you to keep birds out of the area:

Live in zone 4.
Spring would be the best time cos sometimes they don't make it through the winter. They generally are hardy to zone 5 so make sure you get one that is hardy in zone 4.

Two days ago I mulched around my 3 yr old butterfly bush. Leaves suddenly curled up and fell off. Can I save it? Please help.
Unless your mulch contained something harmful, the timing of the leaf curl may be coincidental. There are a couple of fungal root rot diseases that can cause leaf drop. Remove all the dead and fallen leaves and debris from around the plant and treat it with neem oil, including the mulch.

The bush may also appreciate a trim or even a good pruning. Here's a helpful article on that:

I want to try to grow butterfly bushes using my existing bush. I cannot find where the seeds are! I know I can grow from cuttings, but I'd like to try the seeds first. Can anyone tell me where on the buds I can find the seeds please? Thank you
Not all butterfly bushes produce seed. Some of the hybrids do not.
If yours will produce seeds, they will be right under the blooms. Plants grown from seed may be inferior to the parent. Here is how to grow them:

should i cut them back or prune them and where?
If you are referring to the butterfly bush, here are the specifics in growing it:

If you mean the bright orange butterfly weed, asclepias tuberosa, the native host plant for monarchs, they flower off and on all summer. They bloom, then take a rest, then bloom again.

Why would a butterfly bush all of a sudden start growing small leaves in groups, no flowers. I planted 2 identical after I had for several years . Same size hole and every thing. ??? Other one doing great.
There are hundreds of cultivars of this plant and many related species. Perhaps you have two different varieties. Another possibility could be related to pruning. Here's an article that will help you get this one to start blooming:
