We have a patio/walkway in the front of house that faces west. So it is shady in the morning but gets sun all afternoon. Thinking of putting a row of boxwood to give privacy while sitting there. Not too high. What other plants would you suggest to make it a relaxing spot to sit. Something that would attract birds and butterflies?

Mine are about 25 years old. They are very woody & not much greenery. Will cutting them way down will that generate more green or totally kill them?
No, severe pruning would likely kill off the plants.
It may be time to replace the shrubs.

Our 30 year old boxwood is so large that just trimming it doesn't make it small enough. Can it be cut back beyond the green leaves and if I do that, will it grow green again this year or will I kill it?
It is best to do severe pruning in stages.

Hi I have a question regarding boxwoods. I have a row of them in my pathway shaped in round circles however I would like them shaped smaller but they aren't green enough or filled all the way. I'm assuming they are lacking something such as fertilizer or plant food. However, I have no idea how to treat them. Any suggestions
