We purchased the plant from Home Depot - the edges and tips of the leaves are brown and the new pups' tips are brown also. Can we prevent this? There is another pup growing on its own in the same pot and there are no brown edges.
The Indoor Banana Plant has some specific growing care needed.
Optimizing it's conditions will help it stay healthy and happy.
Some browning of tips will happen.
I also suggest using distilled water for watering or letting the tap water sit for 24 hours before using for the plant.
This can help with salts building up in the soil and turning the leave edges brown or dark.

My indoor banana plant seems to be growing another sprout on its side. Should I cut this off or let it grow and cut down the original tree?
Yes, it actually is a good idea to separate the sucker from the mother plant.
The baby plant compete with the mother.
To ensure that the sucker plant is viable to grow on it's own, it should be at least 3 feet tall and 2 to 6 inches in diameter.
Tip the plant and pots on it's side and gently slide the roots and soil from the pot.
Brush away any soil from the sucker to expose the sucker. Using a clean and sharp knife remove the sucker from the mother plant roots.
Plant the sucker in a pot that is adequate sized; it will need to be a the same depth it was previously.
Use a good quality and well draining potting soil. Water the plant well.
Return the mother plant to her pot and add additional soil.

I live in Indiana. If I put this plant in a pot, does it like to be pot bound or should I buy a big pot for better growth? Also, how do I get starts off of it? Does it grow from a bulb?
Banana Trees grow from rhizomes.
A Banana Tree will preform best when it is slightly root bound.
If it is growing in a 1 gallon pot, you can move it up to a 3 gallon size,
if it is in a 3 gallon, move it to a 5 gallon.

I live in UK and just uncovered my banana plants and noticed the flower pod had formed in the winter. Unfortunately, we had some late frosts. There are no leaves. Will new leaves be produced? Many thanks, Peter Poernig
It is doubtful that any new leaves will form. Depending on how cold and how much the flower and plant suffered from the cold, the flower may or may not open.
The flower stalk should start to open from the leathery cover. Tiny white flowers will emerge and then little bananas form.
After a Banana plant produces a flower and fruit, it won't produce any more fruit and is generally removed from the garden. You can then plant again.
I have 4 banana trees, all from the same plant. They are 2 years old and about 8 feet tall. They have no fruit. How do I get them to produce fruit?
There are specific growing conditions needed to produce bananas.

What are these brown spots and holes? I haven't seen any bugs?? I'm in Alabama and it gets full sun. I water every other day if it doesn't rain. I was watering everyday, and it didn't like that! Thanks in advance!
