I live in Indiana. If I put this plant in a pot, does it like to be pot bound or should I buy a big pot for better growth? Also, how do I get starts off of it? Does it grow from a bulb?

Banana Trees grow from rhizomes.

A Banana Tree will preform best when it is slightly root bound.
If it is growing in a 1 gallon pot, you can move it up to a 3 gallon size,
if it is in a 3 gallon, move it to a 5 gallon.
