Is it safe to use fish emulsion on Azalea?
To properly fertilize your Azalea you should have your soil tested.
Without a soil test, use a balanced fertilizer.
Remember that Azalea have a shallow root system and can easily be damaged by fertilizer.
Most times your soil with a dressing of organic material or mulch is often all that your plant needs.
If and when you fertilize, I recommend once before blooming and once following blooming and use half strength.

Some of my azalea leaves have been reduced to a lacework of veins, beginning early summer. Sprayed with pesticide to no avail. Not earwigs, and can't see any creatures on or under the leaves. About one-eighth of a meter high plant affected. Advice would be appreciated.
I am not sure what this could be. Check whether the damage matches the photos in any of these articles:

These azaleas are ten years old and they have never produced beautiful flowers. I do give them food but their limbs and foliage look terrible. Right now their leaves are orange with spots of some sorts. I love azaleas, grew up with them at my childhood home. I live in Charleston, SC, don't know if I need to dig them up and throw away. There are six of them. What do you think? They are southern living plants. Thanks in advance for any help.
Cercospora leaf spot, Phytophthora blight, and Rhizoctonia blight are azalea diseases that can cause spots and discoloration on leaves. Azalea rust can also cause an orange appearance as fungi grow on the leaves. See these articles for more information:

We recently purchased a house in Inverness - it has large, overgrown azalea bushes planted under two large live oak trees. Can I trim these bushes back now or should I wait until summer?
If you prune now, the azaleas won't produce any flowers next summer, but you won't damage the plant in the long run. The best time to prune is shortly after flowering, as explained in this article:

My azaleas got lace bug damage and it affected the entire plant last summer before I realized what was happening. They looked like your picture of that damage. I used an organic insecticidal and fungicidal spray all over the plants twice. Will they come back next spring?
Your plants will probably survive, since lace bug infestations don't usually kill azaleas. But the lace bugs may come back. In case they do, here is some more advice on controlling them:

After the first few hard freezes, azaleas usually do not need to be watered at all. In dry areas, though, they may need to be watered several times along with other plants. It really depends on the climate.
I moved into a new house, where azaleas are growing tall and wide. How do I prune them?
