How do I get rid of spider mites and lace bugs on azaleas? The azaleas are brownish in color and dried up. Some of the branches are wrapped with spider-like webs. The porch under the azaleas has a clear looking substance on it. What does all of this mean and how can I get rid of the pests?
Here is a link to some information I have shared with others on this issue, it is most helpful. I suggest using a good systemic product to gain control on the lace bugs especially. A miticide will be needed to get the spider mites, typical insecticides will only kill the mites natural enemies and their numbers will increase. My azalea is blooming well but only in 2/3 of the plant. What should I do with the part that hasn't bloomed - leave it or cut it back? Thanks
I would wait to prune up your plant until it is after it is done blooming.

Bushes are overgrown. They bloom twice a year. Are more beautiful in late summer. Do not want to them. They are 5 years old.

I received this lovely plant as a gift. I want to enjoy it for many years, so need some help deciding where the best place to plant it would be. I'm considering planting it on the north side of the house, on the west end. It will get shade in the afternoon because of a Rose of Sharon planted on the end. Does this sound like a good location? I have cut off the dead blossoms and am ready to plant it outdoors. We live in central Ohio, in the country.

I bought and planted 2 healthy azaleas about 2 months ago. The buds were already on the plant at time of planting. Since planting the flowers came out but seemed short lived, as in about 2-3 weeks they drooped and died and the leaves are also now dropping and thinning out. They are planted in an outdoor bed facing east with a dripline, as they are covered by roof lip. Get a lot of morning sun but I may have let them dry out too much before watering, as I wasn't sure if dripline was delivering as much as they needed. What should I do now? Just today I watered them with a capful of vinegar just in case acidity was not high enough. Thanks for any help! PS: my Rhodies also seem to have stopped growing in same bed.

The blooms have finished on our recently acquired azaleas. Do I deadhead them? Will more flowers come?
You can remove the spent flowers. Encore azaleas will bloom again while other varieties will create new buds for next years bloom.

How big do they grow?
This depends on the variety. Some plants grow to only a few feet tall and some cultivators mature to 3 to 4 feet tall and wide.
