Q.Do Saskatoon Bushes Do OK Around Spruce Trees?

Zone T7X 3M5 | Anonymous added on March 20, 2022 | Answered

We planted two spruce trees on the eastside of our Saskatoon bush some years ago and now the Spruce are getting quite tall and have spread their branches into the Saskatoon bushes. The Saskatoon bushes do not seem to be producing as well as they used to. Should they be moved because of the spruce? Thank you,

The amount of sun the shrubs receive has probably been reduced. That would cause less fruit production. They need proper air circulation as well, and they don't like to compete for nutrients.
