Q.Climber suitable for planter box

Zone Essex United Kingdom | sheila51 added on August 9, 2016 | Answered

I am looking for a climber to put in my planter that will grow over the attached trellis but the planter is only 8 inches deep. I would like something colourful and which is good for wildlife. Any recommendations please? I would like to get this planted now. The trellis is 6 ft high x 8 ft wide approx.

Morning glories and cypress vine (both annuals) and honeysuckle vine (Lonicera sempervirens), are all colorful, relatively fast-growing, and attractive to hummingbirds and insects. Black eyed susan vine (Thunbergia) is also beautiful. All should do fine in a planter as well.
