Morning glories and cypress vine (both annuals) and honeysuckle vine (Lonicera sempervirens), are all colorful, relatively fast-growing, and attractive to hummingbirds and insects. Black eyed susan vine (Thunbergia) is also beautiful. All should do fine in a planter as well.
