When and how to prune adenium desert rose

Question

Hi I’ve read and watched many articles on pruning a desert rose and when the best time to do it; also could you tell me after pruning do I need to put some say cinnamon, others are different. I don’t want my plant to die as it’s my first time owning one and I would be very gratefull for any information you could help me with.
