What is used as a starter plant for the aeroponics system?

I read the fine article by Nikki Tiley and wanted to ask her what she would use as the starter plants. Does she use seedlings pulled from the garden? Or is there another way? Nice article by the way.

Starter plants can be purchased from the nursery (or aeroponics retailers) or you can use those from which you have previously started from seed yourself--which is the way I would go.
