Taking Care of Hibiscus in Winter Months

Question

I live in eastern North Carolina and just bought a hibiscus for the first time. I have it on the back patio that gets mid-morning sun, and it seems to be doing okay. What I need to know is how can I keep this over the winter rather then buying one each year? I don’t have much room in the small apartment, so I am wondering what I should do to save it for next year.
