    The flowers are produced at the terminal end of a stem in a 4 sided yellow spike that has bracts that overlap like shingles.
    The flowers protrude from a waxy yellow spike and only last a few days. The showy bract remains showy for 6 to 8 weeks.

    It would be hard to tell without a picture. I would have to guess that you have either a soil pH issue, or an insect issue. Could you give any more information and possibly a picture. This can help me better help you.

    Yes, drooping is generally caused by overwatering.

    Make sure the container and soil are draining the excess water. You can carefully lift the root ball and let the soil dry on a stack of newpaper if it is very wet.
    Allow the soil to dry.

    When the flowers die down, remove them and trim the stem and leaves down from the top to encourage branching. Try to leave two rows of leaves if you have that many at the top.
