How do I prepare the soil? Do I fertilize at planting time? What type of fertilizer do I use? Should I mix peat moss in soil to retain more moisture?
This plant is easy to grow; thrives in moist, enriched soils. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency, once established. Apply fertilizer in spring.

I have 6 little bonsai weeping willow trees I made from cutting two years ago. They are very healthy, but they don't weep. The branches go straight up. It looks funny.
As long as you took cuttings from weeping branches and not a grafted bottom sucker, it should weep with proper care.
Your symptoms will be caused by, only, a handful of things. If the cutting was taken from a sucker of a grafted tree, then it will not be the same species as the top. This can account for a non-weeping tree.
Other factors include proper care. They grow very , very fast. If it has been that long in container, and has not grown much, then environmental factors may be to blame. Root pruning is necessary, annually, for a bonsai specimen to remain healthy.

I have white spider on my young Kilmarnoc willow ( sorry about the spelling ) what spray do I need to buy to get rid of them?
Thank you for sending us your gardening question. I'm going to assume you're referring to spider mites, so I'm sending you an article about those.

It also could be lace bugs:

I recently received some Golden Willow cuttings that I’m rooting. I’m new to this and my understanding is a leader needs to be picked from the cutting. Is that correct? When should this start if that’s right? We live in Alberta, should I plant these outdoor before winter or keep them indoors until spring? We have an indoor pool, would they do good in that environment?
Because of the yellow stems, most people grow these as a multi-stemmed shrub instead of a single trunk tree. This includes cutting them to the ground each winter.

These plants are vulnerable to many different types of diseases and pests. Here's an article from Arizona State University that may be helpful: http://www.public.asu.edu/~camartin/plants/Plant%20html%20files/salixmatsudana.html
I'm also going to recommend that you contact your local university extension agent to learn more about growing this plant in your area. Here's a link for them: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/extension-search?zip=81007&radius=50&services_search_action=search&submit=Search
I planted my willow tree back about March and I noticed that it only has branches on one certain side of the tree...it is now about
Your tree may have more sun exposure on one side and should probably be trimmed to keep the trunk from bending as it grows. My suggestion is to contact a certified arborist to determine the best course for the tree before it gets any larger.
