Q.How and when do I prune a rooted golden willow cutting?
I recently received some Golden Willow cuttings that I’m rooting. I’m new to this and my understanding is a leader needs to be picked from the cutting. Is that correct? When should this start if that’s right? We live in Alberta, should I plant these outdoor before winter or keep them indoors until spring? We have an indoor pool, would they do good in that environment?

Because of the yellow stems, most people grow these as a multi-stemmed shrub instead of a single trunk tree. This includes cutting them to the ground each winter.
