I cut Spirea branches last fall to place in boxwood containers for winter display. Branches begin to bud up and leaf out this spring and have now began to flower. Can these flowering branches be planted in containers or in ground to create a new shrub? Thanks
It sounds like they rooted. If so, they can be used to start a new shrub.
Why are my spirea bushes growing up but not out? Thinking maybe they were not cut correctly
Unfortunately, Your photo didn't come through. If your spirea is growing up but not out, it's likely due to pruning issues—either cutting only the tops or pruning at the wrong time. To fix it, do a hard cutback in early spring to encourage bushier growth, or thin out older stems to open the plant up. A fall pruning that is more aggressive can further help shape it. Spirea loves sunlight and responds well to rejuvenation, so with proper timing and technique, it'll bounce back fuller and more balanced.
