I know it's not the thing to do, but for many reasons I transplanted my sandcherry in July. Its leaves have turned brown, so it's probably in transplant shock. I've been keeping it watered, but would it help to cut it way back?

I have a 10-yr old purple lead sandcherry that has oozing yellow sap bubbles (cytospora canker). There are at least a dozen large (1/2 inches) bubbles on the trunk and several dozen more small bubbles moving up the main branches. Any reason for hope or is now the time to take down the tree?
It's not looking good for the sand cherry:

We have just planted a purple leafed sandcherry and it has just finished blooming. A few of the branches only have leaves toward the top of the branches while the rest of the branch is bare. My question is how to prune. Can we prune the top leaves off to encourage growth on the rest of the branch? Also, where on the branches to prune so it doesn't become leggy? Thank you for your response.
Sandcherry is one that benefits from gradual rejuvenation pruning. This article will tell you more: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/shgen/rejuvenation-pruning-tips.htm
My sandcherry shrub lost all of its leaves in July 2014. Am I going to lose the entire tree? What can I do now to save the purple plum sandcherry tree?
You didn't say how long you have had this tree, but it's not unheard of for the sandcherry to lose all it's leaves in July; sometimes it gets them back and even flowers again before winter. Whether this behavior is confined to young trees or not is unclear. Another thing about plum leaf sandcherry is that they are not long lived specimens, usually dying after 10-15 years. They also seem to be attacked by a number of diseases. They are actually a hybrid plant from two different species of Prunus, and hybrids formed from different species are often not very robust. How close to the property line should black sandcherry shrubs be planted? I'm not sure how big these shrubs get or how quickly they grow and want to provide enough room so that they do not grow into the neighbor's yard.
According to the following extension article, purple-leaf sand cherry shrubs mature to a width of 6-8 feet and a height of 7-10 feet.

My sandcherry is wilting and the leaves at the top of the branches are shriveling up. Is there something I can do for it?
Here is a link about the care and growing requirements.
Check for insects or signs of insect damage.

My Purple Sandcherry bush is about 10 yrs old and this July the leaves have turned yellow brown throughout. What caused this and is there anything I can do? It flowered and did well until mid July. Always prune it and fertilize.
Yellowing leaves are generally an indicator of watering issues. To little or to much.
If the area is dry, I would add some additional water. 2 to 3 inches of hardwood mulch can help with moisture retention.
Also check for insects or fungus issues. Neem Oil is a good treatment for either as it works as both an insecticide and fungicide.
