My rosemary plants are new and still small (4"). I read that they are good for making a topiary. I know they have to grow before I begin. Note: would you please post my question on site and send me a private email. Many thanks,
You will have to have a weeping variety for it to look like this. You will not be able to prune an upright rosemary like this.
You can create a topiary with them, though. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/herbs/rosemary/rosemary-topiary-tips.htm
I have dug up my rosemary bush from the garden and brought it inside in a pot . I am hoping it will survive over the Canadian winter, indoors. How should I take care of it. Water etc.
This can be done fairly easily. But take care not to let them dry out or sit near a heating vent.
This article will get you started.

Does rosemary need to be brought inside during the winter
Yes. Your area (zone 8a) is borderline outside of their natural hardiness zone. You will have to care for this indoors through the winter, which can be tricky. You might try planting some hardier rosemary cultivars such as Rosemarinus officinalis ‘Alcalde Cold Hardy' which is hardy to zone 6. Here is more:

I tried putting them in water but they died.
You will, likely, have to use some rooting hormone to get them to root. These articles will help:

Is this sage, if so I can take it out and transplant?
It doesn't appear to be. It is very hard to say what it is at this point, but it is certainly a weed. Maybe a Euphorbia species, but again, it resembles thousands of wild seedlings and will be hard to pin down.
Received a potted rosemary plant shaped like a Christmas tree in December I am wanting to transplant it to my outside garden when is the best time to do that.
Wait till after the threat of frost has passed to plant it.

Having two plants smelling nice. Are they rosemary? Can I use them for cooking?
It looks like Rosemary and if it is you can use it in cooking. It has a piney fragrance. I would be absolutely certain it IS Rosemary before I used it as a seasoning though. Look at some at the grocery store or at a nursery and smell it and make sure it looks and smells like yours. Plus, was it just growing in your yard or did someone give it to you? Be absolutely certain what you have and that it is edible. I can't be certain just looking at a photo.
