Will Autumn Carnival, (encoreazalea). do well in the northeast part of New Jersey with a southern exposure?
You are in USDA hardiness zone 6b and these azaleas are hardy to zone 6b. So you are right on the edge. They need 4 to 6 hours of sun per day, so the southern exposure should work, unless it will get more than 6 hours of sun, which could burn it.

Plant your rhodie in early spring as soon as you know the final frost is over. Here's an article:

I am a novice gardener and have been gifted a Rhododendron. I have just repotted it using multipurpose compost. It is not until I came to throw away the bag, that I noticed it isn't suitable for Rhododendrons! As I have no other compost, do I leave it in and hope for the best or replant it directly into the garden? Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you
I would go ahead and plant it in the garden if you have a place for it. They need well-draining, acidic soil in part shade, so a soil test will be beneficial if you don't know what type of soil you have. You can buy an inexpensive kit for determining pH values.
Here is how to care for a rhododendron:

Help! I have clearly put. Too concentrated solution of miracle gro acid azalea feed on my rhododendrons and azaleas. The flowers are all Burnt and wilted looking in 2 days. More worryingly, any surrounding plants have now got burnt Looking leaves. Eg my lovely acre tree. My Pieris is the same- all scorched looking. I followed the instructions but I must have ended up making the solution too concentrated. I am trying to flood the soil with the sprinkler to dilute it. What else can I do? .
I think you're doing what can be done to fix this. Don't drown your plants, but keep flushing the soil.

I was given a box of Lilly Miller Rhododendron and Azalea food. I only have one small Azalea and I am trying to figure out what else I can use it for? Any help would be appreciated!
You can use this food on camellias, gardenias and any plant that loves acidic soil. There may be suggestions on the fertilizer label as well.

I live in zone 5 (New York State). I have three rhododendron bushes. I planted them last fall. The leaves have a rust color on them. Should I treat them with something? Thank you

my neighbour had her container rhododendron on her patio facing south with many hedges blocking the sun and now she's given it to me in the hopes I can revive it. The leaves and buds are very yellow, brown and brittle. The soil in the pot is quite moist. I've put it on my 2nd floor balcony facing south east, getting late morning, afternoon and evening sun. Should I trim it back, let it dry out... will that revive it? I can't really keep it on my balcony indefinitely, therefore can I transplant in the garden here at my apartment building? Please help. Thank you!
Check the drainage in her container. They like moist soil but not wet feet. Also, if you have a shadier place to plant it will help. They don't need as much sun as is on your balcony. These articles should help:
