I didn't get to prune my pussy willow this summer and now it is about 15 to 20 feet high and a little wild looking. Can we trim it now or do we need to wait until late winter, early spring or until the catkins bloom?
You can trim it now, but in doing so, you risk reducing the number of catkins on the plant next year. If you are ok with this, then you can prune now. Here is more info on pruning your pussy willow: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/pussy-willow/how-prune-pussy-willows.htm
I was given a small clipping of a black pussy willow and have rooted it in water. Do I plant it and trim the same as a regular one?
Yes, you do. But you will want to wait to trim it for a year or so until it has established itself.
I have a pussy willow bush that is huge. I have always cut it back to the ground in the fall. Realizing that I don't get to enjoy the blooms that are on there now, would it be smarter to cut it back in the spring? Would it grow back over the summer to a bush?
It would be better to prune in late spring. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/pussy-willow/how-prune-pussy-willows.htm
My spring growth was white when I first planted this but they were supposed to be pink. Is there anything I can do to the soil to get them pink again?
Typically if a plant's flower seems faded, it is due to a lack of nutrients. I would fertilize the plant with a balanced fertilizer. If you can, get the soil tested as well to see if there are any micro-nutrients lacking.
We planted a pussy willow tree 3 years ago. It has never produced any pussy willows, only leaves. What do I need to do and when?
Have you pruned it? It only blooms on new growth, and when you prune, you cut off the new growth. This article will provide additional info: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/pussy-willow/how-prune-pussy-willows.htm
About 3 weeks ago. I noticed my tree's leaves had a orange/yellow fungus on the underneath and it was covered in ants. Since then most of the leaves have gone very dry, turned brown and are falling off--although I can see tiny new green shoots along the stem.
It sounds like you have a pest problem...and not the ants. Most likely your plant is infested with aphids or scale, both of which secrete honeydew. It is the honeydew that the ants are attracted to, so getting rid of the pest in questions will eventually get rid of the ants. There could also be a fungal issue as a result of the insects. I would receommend treating the pussy willow with neem oil, which will take care of any insect pests as well as fungus. The pussy willow bush is at least 10 years old and was cut back last October due to an ice storm that made all the braches bend and touch the ground. It grew back and looked fine until this week when it looked wilted with some of the leaves toward the bottom turning brown. I watered it for about 15 mins. but still the same. I looked for bugs but did not find any. Any thoughts?

The pussy willow bush may have gotten a fungus and sometimes they are not easy to see. I recommend spraying the entire bush down well with a good fungicide. My own pussy willow bush seems to go through various stages of health after it too was broken down by a late heavy wet snow storm. I keep it sprayed with a fungicide at least twice a year and also give it a tree food spike or two every year. It is big enough that I give it two tree food spikes and I imagine yours is too at 10 years old now. Mine is around 20 years old.
