Bought a field poppy plant but haven't planted it yet. Afraid of frost. Not doing well in house.
They can take a little frost. Go ahead and plant them if there's no chance of heavy frost or freeze, but be careful with their taproots.

I have collected my poppy pods and dried them out. I have just thrown the whole pods into and around the garden. Will they still grow even though I have not taken them out of the dry pod?
The pods should eventually split or erode, so they should grow at some point.

i started growing these guys about 56 days ago and am still waiting for a stem to pop out and info on when and if the will grow a stem would be greatly appreciated these seeds were a goodbye present from my grandma that passed away they are indoor grown.
Because these are growing indoors, I cannot help with the cultivation, in depth. This could present legal issues, and that isn't something that anyone wants.
They will not likely flower indoors without special treatment. However, you can choose to care for it as a non-flowering houseplant.

Yes, you can cover them with brown paper bags. Squirrels and birds will go for the seeds.

And I have a request that can you tell me the suitable temperature, soil, etc for growing poppy plant
f you want to grow them indoors you likely will need a grow light as they require sun. They do best in poor soil so choose a potting soil without fertilizer. Here is more:
