I live in Phoenix, AZ and I would like to plant some type of shrub or plant in my front planters. They run along the front of the home. One is 23' x 1' and the other is 14.5' x 1'. currently there are Agave plants in there which I am pulling out, they have overgrown and reproducing like crazy. I would like something that is easy to maintain, adds color to the front of my home, attracts Hummingbirds and/or Butterflies and can possibly add some shade to the front of the home. Focusing on the fact that the planters are only about a foot deep, I have been looking at all the plants in local nurseries and most grow out to 3 - 5 feet in circumference, which would push against the home or require me to groom it on a schedule. Do you have any options which would help me make a decision on what to plant?

My tall flowering plants are being ate up steams and leaves but not the flower ?
Typically this would indicate caterpillars of some kind. They likely are coming out at night to munch on the plants. This article may be helpful:

We live in Northern WI and I'm wondering if I can plant a Sweetbay Magnolia in our area. We are very flooded and we need help from our water-loving tree friends. If this tree won't do well up here, can you make some suggestions please???? Thank you so much....
Sweet bay magnolia trees are hardy zones 5-9. I live in southern WI where I am on the cusp of zone 4 & 5. If you're in northern WI, I would definitely be concerned about sweet bay magnolia surviving the harsh winters. On the bright side, willow and poplar do very well in wet locations in WI.
Hello! We are landscape company called "Family Garden" that are located in Lviv, Ukraine. We have a client (bank) and they want to plant a trees near the parking space. Unfortunatelly there is no possibility to dig cause there is a pavement. Therefore we need to plant trees in pots. My main questions are: - what kind of trees can be planted in pots for hardiness zone 6 (in winter time we can get to -20C)? - what are main requirements for containers? Possible planting plan is enclosed. You will help us a lot. Kind regards, Zachary.
