Hi so I've had this plant for a little bit over a year now. I got it as a gift from new job when I had started. My boss told me it was an Orchid. Well I've been trying to keep up with it & I looked up Orchid types to see what I needed to do because one of the leaves is severely brown & just turned yellow. I noticed the leaves of my plant did not look like an orchid at all. I looked up the leave online and noticed that I think I have An anthrium plant. It hasn't bloomed since last year. I was terrible with caring for it when I first got it so ive been trying to be consistent with planing 6 ice cubes in it weekly & I believe I have it in indirect sunlight. I wanted to see what I should do to get it to re-bloom, what I should do about the yellow leaf, and I'm curious if it needs to be re-potted? The flowers were pink on this one and I'm hoping there's a chance I can get it to re-bloom! The pink pot is the pot it's been in I realized the little black pot has holes in the bottom. It was inside of the pink one. The pink one appears to be tin.

I've been told that once orchids bloom and then wither, that I need to cut off the stem completely and await reblooming from a new stem. Is this the correct procedure?

MY 4 year old orchid looks great, but the leaves have become floppy and soft-ish. I suspect accidental over watering and or needs a larger pot. There is still one viable blossom and lots of roots climbing out of the pot. Can I repot now while the plant appears to be stressed? Is the floppiness from over watering? The planting material is wood chunks from the original grower. should I also replace the wood chunks? What do I do with all the upward growing roots? Thanks you for your help Jo Bowman
Make sure the excess moisture is draining from the plant.
If the roots sit in soggy orchid soil, it can cause the roots to rot.
You may need to lift the plant and allow to dry out; lay the orchid carefully on some newspaper for a few hours.

There is a sticky substance on one if the orchid leaves. Clear bubble like What is this and can it be treated
Although finding this sap on your Orchids is a sign of good health, yes, it has the potential to cause problems if not cleaned off right away. If left alone, it may lead to a bacterial infection. Be sure to check the area for small round spots, which could be an indication of Scale, or even Aphids, sucking insects that produce same type of sap, that must be treated immediately.
A piece of gauze, paper towel, Q-Tip or tissue dipped in warm water does the job of removing the sticky droplets from the leaves.
my orchid has started growing leaves on what was previously the flower stem,it is growing on the side so looks very odd ,is this normal?
It sounds like your orchid has developed a baby or Keikis.
