I hear a lot of people taking about getting seed catalogues and ordering seed? What’s the difference of doing that vs going to a local store?
I'd say the local stores only carry the most popular seed varieties whereas the catalogs carry more selection plus hard to find seeds. If you aren't looking for any specialty items then the local stores probably will have what you want.
I think there is a convenience factor too with the catalogs and they run sales, too. Catalogs also offer a chance to sit and peruse the varieties and decide at your leisure what to buy.
I have not noticed any difference in the germination rates between the catalogs and the local stores. I've had seeds not come up purchased from catalogs as well as locally bought.

I am sorry, but no, we do not have any seeds available. We offer gardening advice only.
Lichen is an important part of our ecosystem which is currently being destroyed in large part by human activity. As you have pointed out, they do not do any damage to trees and suggest that the reason people want to remove it is because they find it unsightly. I'm sorry, but I don't believe this is an acceptable reason and I think that you should discourage people and point out the advantages of lichen instead. Incidentally, I and many other people, find them astonishingly beautiful.
We do point out several times in the article that the lichens pose no harm and there is no need to remove them. We also point out that if the treatments are not done correctly, they could harm the tree.
We appreciate your time and concern in bringing this to our attention. I will forward your comment to the editor. You might enjoy these articles:
