That will be just fine! Here is an article that will help:
It has several "spikes" from three to six feet tall. It used to bloom prolifically in July but not the last two years.

You don't want to start out with a pot too large because it will cause overwatering. Here is more:
This plant is many years old and about 3’ in circumference. I transplanted it a year and a half ago into a very large pot. It’s root do not bump against the side and I’m sure they don’t reach the bottom. It has flourished in the past in the spot it occupies. This summer it started wilting badly. I thought maybe I overwatered so I withheld water, that didn’t help, so I thought maybe I under watered and I Watered it for 3 days well. It perked up for one day and then began to wilt again. I haven’t watered it for a week and no improvement. He root ball is quite large and heavy, do you have even a clue as to what might be the problem? I don’t know whether to water or not. Please both send private email and post on your site if possible. Thank you. I want to save this lovely old friend.
It is supposed to have a weeping habit. They are from rainforests so they do take more water than other cacti but let the soil dry out a little before watering. It's possible the container is too large and is causing overwatering, so feel the soil with a finger before watering. A moisture meter may help as well.
My plant is huge and wild looking.
It's best to wait till spring so the plant can rest during winter. Cut back on water and do not fertilize during winter. If you prune now, it will encourage new growth.
The Stamms have started to grow this tan overlay tips of the leaves seem as though they’re burnt and some of the thick leaves are becoming limp instead of thick and hard help this plant was thriving and all of a sudden has stopped thriving.
It looks like a pest is on the plant stems, possibly scale. Here is how to help:

I was given this cutting and would appreciate any identification help. The “leaf” looks like my night-bloomer’s one but the weird thing is that the tendrils are growing out from the top of the “leaf. “
Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to identify the plant in question. It could be one of the many night blooming cacti. When it is just a little too humid, they will send roots anywhere on the plant. This includes the growing tip. This could be what is happening.
