Good afternoon. I accidentally broke a few large and nicely curved branches on my Japanese Maple (Tamukeyama I think) when I attempted to put it in the back seat of my Hyundai Sonata. The tree had (past tense, before I broke the branches) a nice shape. Do I simply get a clean pair of pruners and cut the two broken/split branches that are still hanging on the tree/ Or is it possible to tape them up and try to save them? Or None of the above. I would very much appreciate your help. Owner of a new and nice but wounded Acer Palmatum. Appreciatively, RW
I'm sorry your Japanese Maple got injured! No guarantees, but you could try to "splice graft" the broken branches (you're lucky: it will be easier to do this since they're still on the tree!). If this seems too overwhelming, you could also prune them off, but I would only do that as a last resort.

Hello, My 12 year old Japanese Maple (miniature) has recently developed white powdery spots on its trunk. Also the leaves have come up quite sparsly this spring and they have a brown withery end to many of their tips. I would like to know what is occurring and how to treat it. I love this tree. Thank you Kathleen Gaul Dublin kathgaul@hotmail.com
This sounds like either Scale or Mealybug.

I have moths in my tree. What is the solution to get rid of them?
Look for defoliation of branches and leaves. If you see silk bags attached to the branches and twigs of your maple, these are usually the handiwork of bagworms. In numbers they can defoliate entire trees. The bags are covered in twigs and pieces of leaves. The worms, themselves, look like black caterpillars and usually grow to no more than 1 inch in length.

spots on leaves possibly direct watering on leaves ?????
This does appear to be spots from watering, but it also could be signs of fungus issues.
Here is a link with common issues.

The plant started to have white spider-web-like material on the leaves. The underleave has the typical spiral shape that make me diagnose it as whitefly. How do I treat it.
