I had my hydrangea bush for years and they bloomed beautifully each year. My neighbor lost her tree which gave my bush shade because of a lighting strike. Now it gets a lot of evening sun. What can I do to help it besides digging it up? I have sun on every side of my house.

Do you leave the leaves on when pruning?
If your dead heading or just removing the spent flowers, yes; the leaves would remain on the rest of the plant.
Actual pruning is removing the stems and leaves on stems.

I have grown a hydrangea from a cutting. It's about 18 months old and 16 inches high. It has healthy looking dark green leaves but I can't get it to flower. It's in a 12-inch pot in the garden and gets sun in the morning and shade late afternoon. What am I not doing?

It is in full flower and has been healthy. I have kept it watered but to look at the plant, it looks as though it needs watering. The plant is over two years old and is a Dark Angel. Please help.
Is the soil well draining? Is the water draining away to quickly so the plant cannot take up moisture?
Is the ground soggy?
Sometimes Hydrangea will wilt in the summer heat and then recover at the end of the day. You may need to give them a bit more water if your weather is very dry or temperatures are above 85 degrees.

We have had 4 hydrangea bushes in our front garden ever since we moved here 34 years ago. I have always cut them right back at Easter time and up until about 3 years ago they always had loads of beautiful huge flowers. However, now we get almost none. 3 at present on only one bush.
