The bush provides beautiful blue flowers but is outgrowing its spot.
Hydrangea can take pretty heavy pruning, though you may lose blooming for a year. Go ahead and prune it back heavily and it will be fine.

We moved into this house in April of this year and the people that moved out had cut the Hydrangeas all the way to ground. They came back this summer and were very healthy but no blooms. What should be done this fall and winter to ensure blooms next summer?

You should leave pruning hydrangea until the spring, leave any flower heads that have gon over also until the spring. Best way to prune for more blooms is to take each growing tip and dead head down just a couple of buds, nowhere near ground level. Hope this helps.
My hydrangea did not flower this summer. I had cut it back last fall. The leaves came back but no blossoms.
You may be lacking phosphorus. If there is a lack of phosphorus in the soil, plants will have little to no blooms. You can either use a phosphorus rich fertilizer or add some bone meal to the soil. My hydrangea is 10+ yrs old, has never bloomed, and is trimmed back per your instructions in fall. Lovely leaves, bush about 4-5 ft tall by end of summer - NEVER a bud nor blossom. . . I don't even know what color it is. What is wrong with it?

I did not cut off the dead flowers on my hydrangea and now since it has gotten cold, it looks like the whole thing is wilting. Does it die for the winter and then come back? Do I cut it back down to the base? Right now it looks terrible!

I was given a beautiful hydrangea plant at a relative's funeral in Michigan. I live in Florida and set the plant on my screened in porch. The plant is doing ok, but the leaves are losing their green color. What am I not doing right with this plant? Please help.
The plant sounds like it is lacking in nutrients. Give it a weak water based fertilizer once every two weeks.
