Q.Fall Hydrangea Care

Anonymous added on October 13, 2011 | Answered

I did not cut off the dead flowers on my hydrangea and now since it has gotten cold, it looks like the whole thing is wilting. Does it die for the winter and then come back? Do I cut it back down to the base? Right now it looks terrible!

Fall pruning may be in order as well as preparations for winter protection, depending on where you're located. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/hydrangea/hydrangea-winter-care-how-to-protect-hydrangeas-from-winter-cold-and-wind.htm
