My geranium has stopped blooming. What should I do?
If you have not deadheaded it, this may help it to start blooming again. Deadheading is just removing all the old faded blossoms.
Plants sometimes stop blooming because they are stressed. Check the plant for bugs and make sure it is getting enough water. Give it a little fertilizer as well.
If you have deadheaded and there is nothing stressing the plant, you can try pruning it a bit. Removing 1/4 or so of the foliage may jump start it back up again if all else fails.
Do geraniums repel mosquitoes?
Yes, scented geraniums release citronella oil when rubbed, which repels mosquitoes.
We go to AZ for 6 months during winter. We cannot water or care for plants during this time. I have 4 plants in pots. Would they come back next spring if I just set they in a dark, cool basement?
Without any water at all, the likelihood of surviving is minimal at best. I suppose you could try. Is there no one available to care for them? Can you not take them with you? I wish I could offer more help but there is little you can really do but hope. I brought all 3 of my healthy geraniums inside (Rhode Island) . . . all sitting by the south facing window and now all have yellow leaves and it is getting worse. I really don't think I overwatered them. Any advice? I haven't cut them back yet. . . should I?
It still may be that they were over watered. They need only minimal water when brought indoors. Make sure the soil is dry to the touch before watering. Pruning them back will help some.
How low a temp will geraniums survive indoors?
Indoors they can survive down to about 50 F, but at that temp, they would merely survive. They would not thrive.
My geraniums will be stored in an unheated greenhouse, with outside temperatures going as low as the 20 F. Any particular advice to suggest before storing will be appreciated. Thank you.

May I cut some of the roots from my geraniums when I take them from the garden and plant them to winter in the garage?
