I've had this plant for 2 years and its always been healthy. Suddenly last week, it looked like it was dying. the leaves lost color and began curling up on the edges. It looks worse every day and I'm wondering if I have a dead plant or if there is anything I can do to save it.
Yellowing leaves: Root rot can lead to yellowing leaves. Try to pull the plant up. If it come s out of the ground easily and the roots are mushy, root rot is the culprit and the plant should be discarded. Iron chlorosis (iron deficiency) causes yellow leaves; adjust the soil pH and, possibly, apply a foliar feed of iron.

Do you use any type of fertilizer? if so is it for acid loving plants. also if it has been damp for several days you may want to place a small fan to blow gently on the leaves and dry them out.
Is this a good place to put my plant? Right now it is loosing its leaves and there are no more blooms. Some of the plant died and I cut the dead branches off. How do I find out the acidity of the soil and what kind of fertilizer should I use and how often?
You need to be sure your plant isn't receiving direct sunlight through the glass. Gardenias would be happier outside in semi shade with you bringing them into the house in the winter if you have issues with frost. Fertilizing with an acidifying fertilizer like Miracle Gro Miracid is a good option. This fertilizer will also work for azaleas, camellias, ferns and other acid lovers. To encourage blooms once the plant is healthier use something like water soluble Super Bloom alternating with the Miracid. Be careful not to over feed.
This is most likely a watering issue, one of your containers may be draining water more quickly. Soil can dry out at different rates.
Container plants may need additional watering when days are hot, even twice a day in some cases.

I have a gardenia bush that I rooted from one in my mothers garden. It is very special to me. It is in a big flower pot. It is about 3 years old and about 18" tall. I kept it in my sun porch during the winter. In early spring the leaves looked stressed, became wilted and turned brown. It looked completely dead. I kept watering it slightly and then put it outside in my garden. I was so surprised to see some life come back in little green leaves!! Then last week I found the bud of a bloom!! My question is should I plant it in the ground or leave it in the pot? I am afraid to leave it in the pot and afraid to plant it in the ground!! Can it take full sun or does it need some shade? Any help would be appreciated.
I would keep it in the pot at this time. It's happy if its going to bloom for you! Gardenia are a very finicky plant, so the less stress the better.
