My fruitless mulberry tree is almost 6 - 7 years old. At beginning of this summer, all the leaves are dying. What happened? Is it from the sun, not enough water?? Maybe the bug guy who sprays had something to do with it.
Well, sounds like all of the above could certainly contribute to this. Heat stress and too little water are the most common reasons for this so I would up the amount of water to give the tree some relief. you mention someone spraying. What was it? It is possible that the tree could have been affected by the over spray from whatever the guy was using. I would spray the tree down well with water in an attempt to save it.
Fruitless mulberry tree leaves are green but the leaves are half the size as last year. What causes this? My full grown fruitless mulberry tree use to have big leaves, but this year the leaves are over half the size. Leaves are green and have no spots but tree is very sparse. I live in CA, watering it same as I've done for past 3 years (more w/no rain or in extra hot weather).
Smaller leaves and less leaves can be a symptom of some sort of stress or root damage or inner wood disease.
The leaves are generally a late symptom and the damage has all ready occurred.
You can mulch around the tree with 2 to 3 inches of hardwood chips and put the tree on a regular watering schedule.
I would not try to fertilize the tree into health.
Wait and see.
Watch for signs of fungus on the tree and also around the base of the tree.
There is a disease called Armillaria Root Rot.

20 foot Fruitless Mulberry has lush green leaves, but about 20% of newer growth leaves are curling and bright yellow only on the edges. I'm in Mojave desert and the tree is well watered. There does not appear to be spots or white powder. If it wasn't for the curl and yellow edges, the leaves are thick, green, lush. It's been very hot and very humid. Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated. movonup
This is likely Leaf Spot, a fungus.

I have 2 fruitless mulberry trees in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I started to property manage it in the fall. The tips of all the branches, about 2 or 3 feet, have no leaves. It was getting watered from run off from the roof. Since then I have installed an irrigation system and is watered weekly. What is the cause and what, if anything, needs to be done?
The leaf issue on the branches may have been from environmental stresses. Cold weather in the spring, heavy rains or dry spells.
You can prune any dead or damaged branches anytime but waiting until winter is always a good idea.

Why are the leaves yellow on all the fruitless mulberry trees in North Texas? After much concern for my tree shedding the horrible looking yellow leaves, it has all year, including the summer. I ventured out across North Texas to find that most of the fruitless mulberry trees I encountered looked the same or worse than mine. Now we have had a very large amount rainfall this year but I have never seen it affect the trees like this before.
Yellowing leaves generally do indicate a watering issue. To much or to little.
With the reports of heavy rain, this is likely the issue.
There are a few other issues for the Fruitless Mulberry with symptoms of yellowing leaves.
I would suggest contacting your local county extension office and expressing your findings on the multiple trees with symptoms.
They may be aware of any widespread problems.

My fruitless mulberry has been losing leaves for over a month. Yellowing and black spots. Does it sound like a fungus? We had record rainfall May-July, and leaves started falling in Aug. Tree is over 50 years old, but hate to lose it.
There can be a few reasons for the yellowing leaves.
