The fig Tree is almost 50 years old and has been very productive. The second crop is well developed. Do the Mission figs generally ripen in the same time period every year regardless of weather conditions. This year is a hot one! thank you Nancy Alsobrook
The heat will not affect them. There are a very few cultivars where they will drop some fruit but this isn't common. I would say that you should see a more prolific harvest. Of course, this will only be the case if the tree is properly cared for.

I have the green figs and the ripe ones always have white sap coming out. If I let it ripen another day it would be rotten, so they are very ripe.ive had many like this. I don't know much about figs but i thought only unripe figs have the white sap? Do you know why she ripe one would have it?
This publication cites wearing gloves during harvest of ripe figs because of latex:

The fig tree is about 10 years, up to a couple years ago gave us beautiful and delicious fruits, now still gives fruits (less ) but a few days before harvest, the fruit becomes brown on the bottom, the eye opens, bugs penetrate and the fruit falls down. Is this tree sick ? Thank you for your attention to this matter Vincent Minutolo Vinny37@tampaBAY.RR.COM BAMBINA6@TAMPABAY.RR.COM
Without seeing the damage, I would have to guess that one of two things is happening.
This could be due to fungal infection. This can be the case if it has been overly wet, or has not been allowed to dry out thoroughly between waterings. A fungicide can be used to treat the issue. It could, also, be from a calcium/magnesium deficiency. Dolomitic lime will solve this issue.

My property had 5 feet of ocean water on it during Super Storm Sandy. The original branches and trunk died after the storm I never removed the tree. Now 6 years later the leaves are growing on new branches. The this year and last year I noticed small figs growing but they never mature. Will my tree ever produce edible figs again? Is there anything I can do to help it? I have the green skin variety.
My inclination is to have it removed. If it's been six years and the tree is still struggling along, it's got problems. You might call the local extension agent who probably is aware of the same issue with others and see if anyone else's tree recovered.

Hi how long does it take for figs to actually produce seeds? When are the seeds mature enough to actually extract and grow? Do figs produce seeds as soon as you see the fruit growing in the tree? Thanks
The seeds ripen as the fruit ripens. When it is ready to eat, then the seeds are ready.

I recently bought Chicago hardy fig plant from nursery and it's about 3 feet tall. I want to know - can I grow it indoor and can it still bear the rest of the fruits? Or is it better to plant outside? Also, which pesticide and fertilizer should I use for it? Thank you Jaya
It would be better to plant outside. If you are concerned about the weather dipping for prolonged periods you can plant it in a container and move it into the garage for the winter. They need 6 hours of sun a day, so a pot indoors would not be appropriate. We don't recommend pesticide or fertilizer brands, but the articles below discuss how to grow fig trees.

Our green fig tree is too big, I forgot to trim it last year. Is it too late to trim with green buds on the branches? Can I trim at the start of spring?.
The best time to trim is during dormant season, winter. This article should help:
