Hi, does anyone know what this is and how to treat it? It's on all my crepe myrtles in the front and backyard and it got my Confederate Jasmine too. It's looks like tiny white cotton balls and it turned the leaves black. On one myrtle, it turned bark of tree black. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you! Looks like a lot of work and the trees are big. Hope we can save them.
This is White Scale.

Are there any available?

I have an old lagerstroemia shrub that has a black dusty soot on the branches. What is this ? And what pesticide should I use to rid this from my large greenery shrub? Thank you
I will recommend rosemary oil, garlic oil, neem oil, lavender oil, and many others. Sooty mold is rather annoying.
When is the best time to cut back the crepe myrtles in the east Texas area? My trees have gotten too top heavy and tend to fall over when the limbs get wet.
It is best in, either early spring, or late winter. Otherwise, you may affect flower production.

I live in New England. The garden center where I bought the Crepe Myrtle said to cut down the bush every fall. But I noticed that there are very few blooms on the bush this year. Are we incorrect in pruning way back?
Personally, I only prune back after it is established. Once you get one, or a few tall stalks, then cut everything else off. Leave those and cut them back to the point that you want them to branch. I do not recommend pruning all the way back every year. This can make them hard to control in the future.

Will rabbits eat the leaves on a Dwarf Myrtle?
Rabbits never cease to surprise me when it comes to what they will nibble on. It is possible that they will, although it isn't a natural food source for them. Here is an article that will give you a little more advice on how to control them: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/animals/keep-rabbits-out-of-gardens.htm
We ha 10' crepe myrtles installed last July. They did not bloom except for one tiny branch. Should I trim them back? If so when and how much?
You will want to prune in late winter or early spring. This article will give more information on what to cut, and how:https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/crepe-myrtle/best-crepe-myrtle-pruning-time-when-to-prune-crepe-myrtle.htm
